Description
This wine is truly unique as well as being Francesca’s favorite…and by tasting it you will discover why! It is produced with only marzemino grapes coming from the only vineyard of Marzemino di Refrontolo in the area; this vine is a clone which is hardly considered by winemakers because of its low productivity. For about 20 years we have been carrying out trials and experiments in order to increase its yield while maintaining its peculiar characteristics: a particularly uniform ripening, one of the most intense colors, an alcohol content of about 13%, a slightly herbaceous taste and an important salinity conferred by the soil.
The vinification is traditional; then a part of the wine continues the refinement in steel tanks and the other part faces an aging in oak barrels for about 24 months during which the wine is harmonized. After bottling it can be tasted for the following 8/10 years.
The traditional combinations would like it to be served with braised and stewed meats, aged cheeses and traditional Brescia cold cuts. We suggest you to try cooking a risotto with Marzemino and cinnamon: you will lick your lips! But believe us: it is so good that it deserves to be drunk alone!
